Dusty can keep his name. He does not need to keep living in your furnace. A filter check is a small maintenance step worth making routine.
Check before replacing
ENERGY STAR recommends checking filters monthly, particularly during heavy use. Follow your equipment and filter instructions for cleaning or replacement. A dirty filter can restrict airflow and contribute to equipment problems.
Use the right replacement
Check the required size and filter specification in the equipment guidance. More restrictive filtration is not automatically a suitable upgrade for every system. Ask a qualified technician if the correct filter or installation procedure is unclear.
Keep the task in proportion
A dirty filter alone is not a reason to replace the entire furnace. Use the checklist below for the routine task; unusual operation or recurring problems deserve professional attention.
